El origen del parque se remonta al siglo XVII durante el reinado del monarca Felipe IV (1640), este encarga a Alonso Covarrubias un nuevo Palacio que contará con unos magníficos jardines para el disfrute del Rey y la corte. En esta época, la extensión del Palacio y sus jardines, supone un tercio de la superficie total de Madrid. Actualmente este pulmón de Madrid es un museo de esculturas al aire libre, un lugar de ocio y deporte para los madrileños y está cargado de historias que seguro te emocionarán.

The king orders the architect Alonso Covarrubias a new palace that will have magnificent gardens for the enjoyment of the king and the court. At this time the extension of the palace and its gardens accounts for a third of the total surface of Madrid. Currently this lung of Madrid is a Museum of sculptures in the open air, a place of leisure and sport for the madrilenians and is loaded with amazing stories that you will enjoy for sure.

Este museum located in the so-called Art Triangle of Madrid and opposite the railway station Atocha, opened its doors in 1990 with a collection of contemporary art that covers the artworks made from Picasso’s birthday (1981) to our days.
