El origen del parque se remonta al siglo XVII durante el reinado del monarca Felipe IV (1640), este encarga a Alonso Covarrubias un nuevo Palacio que contará con unos magníficos jardines para el disfrute del Rey y la corte. En esta época, la extensión del Palacio y sus jardines, supone un tercio de la superficie total de Madrid. Retiro’s Park

The king orders the architect Alonso Covarrubias a new palace that will have magnificent gardens for the enjoyment of the king and the court.
